AIMM is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental organization, which since 2010 has been dedicated to the promotion of research, education and conservation with regard to marine species and ecosystems. We are based in the Algarve region, in the south of Portugal, where we develop most of our activities, but we are also involved in projects in other parts of the country and abroad.

We are currently looking for a volunteer to work part-time at our Field Station for the 2026 season, as a cook. We need a person to manage the food preparation of the team and trainees.

Volunteering:

- This position is on a voluntary basis;

- The start is scheduled for May 1st until the end of November 2026. Can you only stay one month? Talk to us anyway;

- We offer food and accommodation at the Field Station where we accommodate our researchers and interns.

Objectives:

- Be sustainable & creative – try to use food in the best possible way, without waste;

- Manage the food stock and organize the refrigerator of the Field Station;

- Ability to prepare meals for different diets (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.);

- Prepare and plan 2 meals a day for the entire team and interns.

Profile:

- Experience in cooking (preferred);

- Fluent in English or Portuguese;

- Organizational skills;

- And be open-minded!

Other information:

- From May to November we will receive for our intensive course several people of various nationalities, areas and ages, and you will have the opportunity to live with them;

- When possible you can go out to sea on the AIMM research boat to see the fieldwork and animals in their natural habitat. See for yourself the marine researchers and biologists in action and learn from them about the animals that we can observe in the South of Portugal.
