Institution's Mission
OUR MISSION: With the poor, to welcome, serve, accompany and defend their causes<br<brCáritas in Portugal has as its mission Integral Human Development and the defense of the Common Good, intervening in order to transform society. Through the animation of Social Pastoral, it fosters the sharing of goods and assistance in situations of calamity and emergency.<br<br"For the Church, charity is not a kind of social assistance activity that could even be left to others, but belongs to her nature, it is an inalienable expression of her very essence" (1).<br<br"The witness of Christ's charity through works of justice, peace and development is part of evangelization." (CIV – CARITAS IN VERITATE – 15) Caritas must be a reference for the practice of the Church's pastoral activity, in the light of its social doctrine and illuminated by faith.
