Institution's Mission

Associação Cabeço Santo (ACS) has the status of Equivalent to NGO Nº de Registro - 226/E with knowledge, experience of environmental practices. We deal with the preservation and ecological restoration of native forest landscapes, for the sake of soil health, water and ecosystem resilience. We carry out actions to control and remove species of invasive/exotic flora and safeguard flora and fauna for biodiversity and for the permanence of native biomes. <br<brOur regular volunteering activities are based on the promotion of natural regeneration, the elimination of invasive species, the sowing and planting of native species and the signalling of walking routes for the discovery of native habitats. Our creation in December 2019 continued and expanded the 13-year-old Cabeço Santo Project, with a potential area of 130 hectares. The headquarters is located in Feridouro, a small place in the Union of parishes of Belazaima do Chão, Castanheira do Vouga and Agadão, municipality of Águeda, in an area of low population density and greatly affected by rural abandonment.<br<brThrough various initiatives, such as the reactivation of pedestrian trails, promotion of awareness/education events and actions on the ground, ACS's mission is also to boost the local economy and population. At the beginning of 2023, we were awarded the Lead and Host Entity Quality Label by the ERASMUS+ National Agency for Youth/Sport and the European Solidarity Corps."
