After the fires of September 2024, a group of inhabitants from several villages emerged and met several times to find solutions for their territory severely affected by the fires, boosted by mega monoculture plantations of eucalyptus and other invasive/pyrophytes. At the moment, the land of the demoralized owners is with thousands of eucalyptus and acacia trees growing uncontrollably. The Municipality of Águeda publicly promised to help the owners to uproot the stumps around the villages, creating protective buffers. ADPLP applied for the Quercus Common Forest project (an Association that has supported us from the very beginning). ADPLP needs support for the planting of more than 3000 native trees on the land already intervened. These trees will have to go into the ground in winter to be able to root and adapt to the terrain.
